Dear Daniel,
These days, when buying something online, I’m often presented with the option to pay with something called ‘Klarna’. I don’t know what it is or how it works. But I do know that, as someone who has always been very careful with money and never been in debt, I don’t want to do anything that could potentially be unwise. So, what is Klarna – and should I use it?
Daniel says:
Klarna is brilliant – it basically lets you buy anything for free. I only discovered the service this month and while I haven’t researched it properly yet, there doesn’t appear to be any catch. Three weeks ago I bought a new phone and opted to ‘pay’ via Klarna. When I checked my account, no money had been taken. I couldn’t believe it – at first I thought it was a bug, but since then I have bought an iPad, a watch, two sofas, seven roll-neck jumpers and a kitchen, and I haven’t been charged for any of those either. It’s fantastic. I’ve no idea how the company makes any money, but I’m not complaining. I can on…
